the so-called research officer...

I hv long forgot to do research - frankly say, because my job revolves around hearing submissions and deciding cases. What's there to research when you have everything in front of you, ready to be scrutinized and flip over. But then life is not always on the top of the wheel. Now I am on the bottom side :-(

My last entry was on Dato's order to do research on cases for the last will and testaments and the agency. I did'nt do it during weekend as weekend is meant for house chores (i m a weekend bibik, remember).

Heck I don't dissapear for EL. Mainly because I had other thgs to attend to and some more, my leaves are not many.

No, I did not see him at 8.30am. In fact I was waiting for him to yell at me :-) But how la... we have to attend the lawyer sharp at 8.30am. If we fix the time for them to come at certain time, what would then escape us from receiving when the time comes?

So, Dato' asked the secretary to call me down. She was like - eh, puan tak turun pagi tadi ka? (in her kedah dialect) Dato' la ni panggey puan skang jugak noo..

When I came, he did'nt greet me. Not to mention that I had to wait for 15-20 minutes while he got his attire changed. The first thing that came from him was the cases on wills. Not some other unsettled issue that he demanded briefing. Very well then.

J - Mana itu kes?
Me - ada, belum fotostate lagi.
J - Kenapa belum?
Me - Tak sempat, baru habis kes.
J - Okay, pergi sekarang ambil kes. Fotostat later.

So I went and climbed the stairs and took the cases. Local cases. Then rushed back to him. At that time, he was giving orders to the secretary. He looked on me and gv his hand to take the cases. Quickly he went through.

J - eh, ini semua local cases sudah ada... ini sudah ada... ada... (which ended up that he had all the cases in hand. Must be from the submissions of counsels)

J  - mana lagi yang international jurisdiction punya?
Me - Belum siap. Dalam proses
J - Apa maksudnya dalam proses? ( He stared at me angrily)
Me - Masih cari, sebab last week the internet was down. Heavy shower.
J - Hmmm...always the same excuse (pulak?) Now go and get the cases. I want it now.

Once again I had to rush back to my room. He's totally out of mind. I had just finished my case management. How do I find the times to do research. It's not like searching for the case laws when the citations are ready on the list. I m gathering info from sky, and everything could be included thereunder. Aku rasa mcm nak cakap kat dia - it's not like plucking fruits from a lower tre, u know... I spent all hours including my lunch  break just to settle the research and finish. I handed over to him right after the break and snobbishly he took my cases and picked out almost all cases to fotostate. For him, all documents served must be photocopied in 2 copies and marked with the date. (poyo...)

Then he asked to proceed with the agency case laws. No thank you words.:-(

So here I am, being the last person to leave the office. I m sooooo geram that I had to do this entry. Why on earth was I chosen to work under this old man I hardly respect???
